The spokesperson of the European Union, Peter Stano, has confirmed for Klan Kosova that Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandër Vucic have been invited to Brussels.

He also stated that the uncoordinated and unilateral actions in the situation in the north of Kosovo must be stopped immediately.

"The European Union is following closely and with concern the situation in the north of Kosovo", said Stano.

"All those involved must remain calm, and any uncoordinated and unilateral action that endangers stability and security on the ground and impedes the freedom of movement of all citizens must be stopped immediately.

"The only way to resolve disputes is through dialogue and negotiations. The EU has been and remains in close contact with both Kosovo and Serbia, for calming tensions, and in close coordination with EULEX, KFOR and international partners, especially with the United States of America".

Stano confirmed that the EU has invited both sides to Brussels to discuss, and added that the proposal of the EU High Representative, Joseph Borrell, had proposed the postponement of the measures and that the United States of America had fully supported.

"After Kosovo has accepted the request of the High Representative/Vice President Borrell and the United States of America to postpone the planned measures regarding license plates and ID cards, for the removal of all barriers, the EU has invited both parties to Brussels to discuss the way forward", said Stano.

"All open problems must be addressed through dialogue mediated by the EU".

"The focus must return to the comprehensive normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, which is essential for the respective integration paths."

"High Representative/Vice President Borrell's proposal was to postpone measures on license plates and IDs and to meet in the meantime in Brussels to discuss the way forward."

"The proposal was fully supported by the United States."

Earlier in the day, the prime minister said that he had not yet received an invitation from the European chief diplomat, Josep Borrell, for the meeting with the Serbian president.
