A 21-meter yacht ended up on the rocks of Porto Cervo, near Sardinia in Italy, and as a result one crew member lost his life and 6 others were injured.
The victim is a 60-year-old man of British nationality, according to the first data, the owner of the boat. He was found alive but unconscious by the coast guard forces of Olbia and Porto Cervo, but he died shortly after the rescue.
The other 6 injured were sent for medical assistance. Two are in serious condition and have been sent to the hospital under code red.
The incident happened around 20:40 while the group was sailing in front of the Li Nibani islands and may have been caused by the yacht's captain's sudden maneuver to avoid colliding with another vessel.
The commander of the powerful motorboat Magnum, according to the local press, in order to avoid a boat coming from the starboard side (and therefore with priority), would have turned without noticing the group of rocks.
The 21-meter yacht is half sunk and the wreckage is already being towed by tugboats in the port of Porto Cervo. The Port Authority has seized the dinghy to carry out the necessary investigations.
