A major conflict is about to start in Asia where the Chinese military plans to encircle Taiwan by announcing a major military exercise around the island.

It all happens as top US official Nancy Pelosi is making an official visit to Taiwan, which has angered Beijing, which considers the island part of China's territory.

Chinese media reports that the country's military will hold military exercises in at least five maritime areas where real weapons will be used. During the exercise, rockets, cannon fire from military ships and similar maneuvers will be used.

According to The Global Times, a Beijing-controlled media outlet, Pelosi's visit to Taiwan will not lead the island to greater independence, but "accelerates the process of reunification" thus signaling a direct threat by Chinese authorities to the island.

Meanwhile, Taiwan has declared a state of emergency and is training citizens on how to react in the event of a possible invasion by China.
