More than 80 people have been killed in a terrorist attack yesterday when gunmen opened fire on a concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow, Russian officials said. There are also children among them.

The health authorities say that the number of injured is over 145, of which about 60 are in critical condition.

The attack took place in the Crocus City hall in Krasnogorsk on the evening of Friday, March 22, 2024. World news agencies, among them Reuters and the BBC, reported that the militant group, Islamic State (IS), claimed responsibility for the attack on several channels on Telegram, related to it.

Meanwhile, the heads of the Russian Internal Security Services (FSB), the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Investigative Committee and the Russian National Guard reported to President Vladimir Putin on the progress of the investigation into the terrorist attack on the city's Crocus concert hall. It was announced by the press office of the Russian president, Ria Novosti reports.

Videos shared on social media showed gunmen entering the venue and opening fire before the start of a concert by the Russian music group Piknik. The video shows the moment when the 6,200 people attending the concert are alerted by the gunshots and try to leave to save their lives.

RIA-Novosti reported at least three attackers involved, while Interfax reported at least five. Their location or fate is still unclear. The hall burst into flames after the perpetrators also threw grants.

Kiev has denied being behind this assassination. On the other hand, the former Russian president, Dmitry Medvedev, warned Ukraine that if it had a hand in the attack, it would receive a "devastating" response. Weeks ago, the US warned Russia that it could be the target of terrorist attacks.
