Violent protests were registered on Tuesday afternoon in North Macedonia, against the acceptance of the French proposal by the government that would lead to the unblocking of EU membership negotiations.

Thousands of people, mostly opposition supporters, started the protest in front of the government building by throwing pyrotechnics and hard objects, but the security measures were too tight and the protesters continued on.

They stopped in front of the Foreign Ministry building, where they were able to break some of the building's windows. It is reported that there was also a clash with the police, where 4 officers were sent to the hospital to receive medical help.

Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski called for peaceful and democratic protests, underlining that citizens have the right to protest and no one dares to deny this right.

This is the fourth day that a protest is being held in Skopje with the motto "Ultimatum? No thanks".

Protesters are demanding that the government authority in North Macedonia reject the European Union's proposal, known as the French proposal, for the start of membership negotiations. According to them, he "Bulgarianizes" North Macedonia and does not know the Macedonian language or history.
