Toolbox for killing... vampires goes up for auction

A box of vampire-killing tools will be up for auction soon.

This box, which contains, among others, a cross, two pistols and a hammer, is expected to be sold for more than 3,000 euros.

Once owned by Lord Hailey, a former administrator in India, the wooden box also contains holy water, a bible and candles, objects that in the 19th century were thought to kill vampires.

Auctioneer Charles Hanson said: “These kinds of objects have always appealed to people. The myth of the vampire, an immortal creature that needs human blood, began hundreds of years ago, and stories about it are still told today. For more than 200 years, vampires have been part of popular culture and European folklore."
