North Macedonia has published its version of the proposal of the French president, Emmanuel Macron, for overcoming the dispute with Sofia, with which negotiations for EU membership will begin.

Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski declared to the media that he examined it together with the coalition partners and confirmed that the concerns expressed by him have been addressed.

The head of the government of Skopje announced that the next steps are the discussion of the Macron plan with the president, the parliament, the opposition and civil society.

Kovacevski said that the Macedonian language has been accepted and clearly defined in the European proposal and that the protocol will not be part of the negotiating framework.

"We defended national interests and Macedonian identity", he said in a press conference.

While the foreign minister of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, said that as soon as the French proposal is approved by the government, the first intergovernmental conference with the European Union will be organized, but he did not give an exact date.

The VMRO-DPMNE opposition spoke out against the Macron platform claiming that it contains all Bulgarian demands and forces Skopje to act under the dictates of the neighboring state. The leader, Hristijan Mickocki, called the citizens to protests because according to him, the French proposal gives Sofia the opportunity not to allow the opening of the first chapters until North Macedonia changes the constitution and history books.
