Enemies on Earth, but allies in space: Russia: Ready to extend cooperation with
American astronaut Loral O'Hara started her space mission yesterday aboard a "Soyuz" capsule together with Russian counterparts Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub.

The head of the Russian space agency "Roscosmos" said that he was ready to extend an agreement with the US for joint space flights to the International Space Station (ISS).

According to the Interfax news agency, the head of Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov, added that a new agreement is being prepared to allow cross flights to continue in 2024 and 2025.

Moscow had previously said it would end cooperation with the US in space.

The ISS is one of the few places where the two countries are still working together since the outbreak of Russia's war against Ukraine.

Yesterday, for example, American astronaut Loral O'Hara launched her space mission aboard a Soyuz capsule together with Russian counterparts Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub.

Due to extremely strained relations between the two countries, Russia recently announced that it would end cooperation after 2024 and build its own orbital station.

However, since building a space station takes several years, Moscow later announced that it was considering staying on board the ISS until 2028.
