Lajçak: The Kosovo-Serbia agreement should be implemented within the
Miroslav Lajcak and Albin Kurti

The special envoy of the European Union for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajcak, says that the process of implementing the agreement for the normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo should start within this year.

In an interview for "TASR", the Slovak diplomat said that the process of normalization of relations reached a "turning point" after both sides in February and March in Ohrid agreed on the essential documents leading to the normalization of mutual relations.

"However, the real implementation of the agreement has not started in six months. Both sides have a great degree of mistrust of each other. They say give me what I deserve and then I will do what is necessary", said Lajçak.

He said that Kurti's decision to start everything with the de-facto recognition of Kosovo by Serbia is not a "realistic path.

"Kurti insists on a document that de facto starts with the recognition of Kosovo by Serbia and only then does its part of the work, which of course is not a realistic way forward", said Lajçak.

Lajçak emphasized that it is essential that the implementation of the agreement for the normalization of relations begins this year. If the process can get up and running, it will continue next year, according to him.
