A new variant of coronavisur has been identified in great Britain. It is EG.5.1, from the Omicron variant that has recently infected a large number of people.
According to the UK Health Safety Agency, the new variant is responsible for one-third of the new cases.
Experts said they are tracking the variant that is responsible for the rise in cases, particularly in Asia. This variant was identified on July 31 and is responsible for 4.6% of infections.
This variant appears to be spreading faster than previous variants, and experts say they are monitoring it carefully.
"We've also seen a slight increase in hospital admission rates across most age groups, particularly in older people," said Dr Mary Ramsay, head of immunization strategy at UKHSA.
