US President Donald Trump has responded to reporters about the possibility of running for a third presidential term in 2028. He admits that he would like such a race, but stressed that US law prohibits it.
"Everybody asks me if I'm going to run in 2028. I would love to, but the law on this issue is very clear and strict," Trump told reporters. The United States Constitution, through the 22nd Amendment, limits the president to two terms.
Speaking about Iran and the situation in the Middle East, Trump stated that he does not trust Tehran and claimed that the United States has control over the Strait of Hormuz.
"We control the Strait of Hormuz, not them," the US president said, adding that Iran should not become the "bully of the Middle East."
Trump also commented on his sudden departure from the NATO summit in Turkey, saying he faces a large number of threats.
"I get a lot of threats. A lot of threats that you don't know about. Anyone who has an important position faces a lot of threats. Those who don't matter don't get threatened. I think I'm the main target," he declared.
Trump said his safety depends on the Secret Service and that he follows the agents' instructions on the measures he should take.
