In the middle of May, the largest Austrian newspaper, "Kronen Zeitung" devoted an article to the then President Ilir Meta, whom it considers to be deeply corrupt, right from the headline.

The newspaper's narrative begins with the testimony of a detective who is hiding in Vienna from where he seeks protection due to the threats he received from Ilir Meta. But the newspaper has published serious facts about the financing of lobbying that Meta has done in the United States of America. The newspaper raises questions about Meta's visit to Washington and the source of funding for this money.

According to the newspaper, the list of suspicious money includes the surgical interventions performed by Meta's wife, Monika Kryemadhi, where, according to the newspaper, an operation cost around 50 thousand euros.

Immediately after this article, Ilir Meta appeared in a press conference from the Presidency's courtyard, where he retaliated against the newspaper and threatened a lawsuit in Vienna.

"We have notified the Austrian Embassy here, I have also notified our ambassador in Vienna to inform them of correctness. If I were not the President of the Republic, I would not sue them, because you hear such slander every day on television screens. You hear these things every day", he declared.

Meta promised that very soon "all Albanians would learn the truth" and spoke with conviction that he would win the trial in the lawsuit he said he would file against the Austrian media in Austria. But, since that time, Meta has not spoken about whether he filed the lawsuit or not.
