ERE 'seals' Cascade mismanagement: How Fierza Lake was said in three

"As is evident, the energy reserve at the end of May 2021 has resulted in the maximum level of 1520 GWh and at the end of August, this energy reserve has gone to 628 GWH, marking a significant and rapid decline".

This is a paragraph from a report by the Electricity Regulatory Entity confirming allegations that Drin's Cascade was mismanaged over the past year, weighing down the energy crisis in which the country entered, which the government has declared since November.

The ERE report has not yet been published, but according to What SCAN says, it is noted that proper storage and management of the hydraulic reserve in the Cascade of Drin is an added guarantee in the country's energy security.

The drop in Fierza's level and energy reserve, according to the ERE, exposed the country to electricity imports, which due to high prices in international markets are costing public finances millions of euros.

To seal the dam's mismanagement, ERE also cites last year's production and hydraulic reserve figures. The report says that in January last year the Drin River was the highest recorded since 1990. ERE points out that the first half of 2021 was a period of record electricity production, but the situation quickly reversed in the second half of the year.

Albania has spent around 285ml euros on energy purchases in 2021 alone.
