As the price of oil has increased, Confindustria has called on the Assembly to interrupt the summer vacations and hold an extraordinary meeting in order to establish the Fuel Regulatory Body and undo the Transparency Board. The latter determines fuel prices since the crisis caused by the war in Ukraine.

"Konfindustria again requests from the deputies of all parties without distinction, that in the extraordinary session of the Assembly, they take the legal initiative for the establishment of ERRK, as a permanent, professional agency, dependent on the Assembly and according to the successful models of the region. The Board of "Transparency was built and operates under the conditions of pure and flagrant conflict with the public interest. Half of its members, who supply data and are part of decision-making, represent precisely the companies that should be subject to observation for market speculation." , says the reaction.

In response, Konfindustria says that the Transparency Board should be dissolved as its decisions are a special additional tax for businesses and citizens and favor fuel smuggling. Among other things, he claims that the Board is artificially increasing the income in the state budget and is producing massive bankruptcies, unemployment and emigration.

According to Konfindustria, which is not for the first time seeking the undoing of the Board, oil in Albania is approximately 33% and 25% more expensive than in Montenegro and North Macedonia.

"Konfindustria requests the interruption of the summer vacations and the extraordinary meeting of the Assembly of Albania in order to establish the Fuel Regulatory Body/ERRK and therefore the cancellation of the Transparency Board. The request comes after successive and continuous decisions of BT contrary to the interest public, which produces quite serious long-term consequences of the economic crisis, massive bankruptcies, unemployment, emigration and even the risk of undermining the social and constitutional stability of the state".

Confindustria estimates that the initiative in question will show the integrity of the parties and deputies, who protect the public interest, are not caught by the fuel cartel and short-term political interests.

BT's decisions are essentially a "special additional tax" for businesses and citizens, which artificially increases revenues in the state budget and clearly favors massive fuel smuggling.

The last decision of BT dated 27/8/2022 has further deepened the change in the price of oil, which Albanian businesses and citizens must pay to the states of the Region. Today, oil/diesel in Albania is approximately 33% and 25% more expensive, respectively, than in Montenegro and North Macedonia, which are supplied to the same international markets. Albanian businesses and citizens pay 0.5-0.6 euro/liter more expensive oil than the aforementioned countries. Albania, before the recent increase in prices, was the 11th country in the world ranking for the relative expensiveness of fuel', says the reaction.

We remind you that in the last decision the Transparency Board increased the price of oil by 9 Lek, which as of yesterday afternoon is trading at 248 Lek per liter, while gasoline decreased by 4 Lek and went to 201 Lek per liter. The price of gas increased by 1 Lek, selling for 79 Lek.
