Despite market challenges, the automotive sector shows remarkable resilience, Interbrand agency emphasizes in its latest report on the world's most valuable brands for 2025.
This well-known consulting firm, which deals with the evaluation and ranking of brands, highlighted that Toyota is the most valuable car brand in the world, with a value of 74.2 billion dollars. This increase of two percent allowed it to place in sixth place in the global ranking, ahead of brands such as Mercedes, BMW and Tesla. Ahead of it are only the technology giants: Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Google and Samsung, while Coca-Cola is right behind them.
Interbrand believes Toyota's growth reflects the trust customers have in the brand, which has built a reputation for reliability, affordable technology and global presence over decades. Mercedes-Benz is in second place among automotive brands, with a value of $50.1 billion, a 15 percent decline from last year. Mercedes currently ranks 10th in the global brand rankings. Third place belongs to BMW with a value of $46.8 billion, representing a 10 percent decline, and in the overall ranking it ranks 14th.
The 10 most valuable car brands according to Interbrand include:
Toyota – $74.2 billion (up 2.0%)
Mercedes-Benz – $50.1 billion, (down 15%)
BMW – $46.8 billion (down 10%)
Tesla – $29.5 billion (down 35.2%)
Honda – $24.8 billion (down 7.3%)
Hyundai – $24.6 billion (up 6.9%)
Audi – $15.4 billion (down 10.7%)
Ferrari – $15.4 billion (up 17.8%)
Volkswagen – $15 billion (down 9.1%)
Porsche – $15 billion (down 13.9%)
Tesla is the biggest negative surprise of this analysis, with a market value drop of up to 35 percent, which now stands at $29.5 billion. This decline is attributed to increased competition in the electric vehicle market, as Tesla models are increasingly catching up with those of other brands such as BYD, Hyundai, Kia and Volkswagen.
Interestingly, the battle for dominance in the automotive industry has shifted to the electric vehicle market, but according to Interbrand, the most valuable brands still come from the mainstream segment.
