Ruins of the 2400,<>-year-old palace

New archaeological discoveries have been made in Bushat, Shkodra, where in 2018 the ruins of an ancient city believed to be Bassania were discovered.

Polish archaeologists say they have discovered a large, 2400,<>-year-old palace divided into three large rooms and a long corridor. The palace was discovered at the highest point of the ancient city.

Inside the palace, archaeolos said they have discovered "an amazing number" of vases used for wine, of various sizes.

"We have discovered a unique building," said the Polish mission's archaeologist, Piotr Dyczek. He described the building as a "prytaneion" structure in ancient Greece where local governments met, or as a "hestiateron," a public structure where eternal fire burns.

The city appears to have been planned to be governed as Greek cities, although it is not Greek, the archaeologist stated.

He said the city was Illyrian, and the Illyrians at the time ruled most of the Balkans, until they were conquered by the Romans in 168 BC.
