The Court of Appeal has upheld the decision of the Court of First Instance for Izet Haxhina, finally sentencing her to 21 years in prison.

He was found guilty of the criminal offense of "premeditated murder", committed in collaboration with the murder of Azem Hajdari.

Izet Haxhia landed on May 8, 2018 at the Rinas airport after being handed over to the Turkish authorities for the purpose of extradition to Albania. After getting off the plane, he was awaited at the airport by Tirana police officers, Interpol, and a ready group of prison guards, who also escorted him to prison 302.

Izet Haxhia was arrested in 2006 in Turkey, but Turkish justice had not yet expressed his extradition, although the Albanian side had made continuous demands at the time when Sali Berisha was in power.

For 12 years in a row, the Turkish court had simply ordered that he not leave the country, while in February 2018 the decision was suddenly made to extradite him.

Deputy Azem Hajdari was killed on September 12, 1998, while leaving the headquarters of the Democratic Party. Four people were convicted for this crime, including Sali Berisha's former bodyguard, Izet Haxhina.
