The teachers have given the government two days to respond to their demands, otherwise they will go on hunger strike on Wednesday.

The Union of University Employees also protested today in front of the University Corporation.

Educators started the new academic year with protests for better conditions and salary increases, boycotting classes in public universities.

With an open-ended protest, they are continuing to call for the fulfillment of their demands by the government.

The boycott was supported by the majority of lecturers in the faculties in Tirana, but there are also those who did not participate.

Despite the fact that a few weeks have passed since the start of the new academic year, Prime Minister Edi Rama has stated that it is up to the universities to increase the salaries for professors.

The increase would be 15%, where only 7% will be covered by the state budget, while the rest from the respective universities.

Despite this decision, the teachers did not agree and the protests continued.
