The Minister of Health, Albana Koçiu, has reacted again today regarding the scandal that happened in the Oncology hospital in Tirana, where patients were not given services, directing them to private clinics, which were owned by the doctors themselves.
Koçiu said that he has launched an administrative investigation for the entire hospital structure, while he said that it is intolerable for doctors to treat human life as a market commodity.
Bringing back the reaction to the Oncology hospital, I want to emphasize that corruption is the red dividing line between the public interest of a citizen. We have started an administrative investigation in addition to the investigation started by the prosecution.
To punish all those who have committed procedures that violate the image of the doctor and nurse. The administrative investigation that we have launched together will be an investigation that will discuss many aspects of the work in this service. It is intolerable for the doctor to consider human life as a commodity in the mass market.
We will initiate legal changes to make amendments to the law on the doctor's order to impose strong sanctions that punish anyone who treats human life as a commodity in the free market. They should be the core of every professional's work. The investigation will also make it possible to re-dimension the Oncology system,' said Koçiu.
