Drug-laden dinghy seized near Corfu, ferryman from Saranda arrested (NAME)

A dinghy coming from the Albanian coast has issued an "SOS" signal near the Greek coast.

The incident occurred in the maritime area between Gumenica and Corfu, in a place called Prasoudi. Police boats from Corfu and Igoumenica immediately headed to the scene. Sources indicate that a request for assistance has also been received from the Saranda border police.

Greek police found a half-sunken dinghy at the scene and the driver, an Albanian citizen, inside. He was transported to the Port of Igoumenitsa and then to Filati Hospital for medical assistance.

Preliminary sources indicate that the driver of the raft is a 50-year-old man from Saranda, Edmond Musa, known by the nickname "Çimoni", a person involved in international drug trafficking.

Initially, Musa was arrested for "illegal border crossing" and "sinking a vessel." But having doubts, the police returned to the scene once again.

Due to sea currents, the dinghy has already been found near Sajadha. During the search of the vessel, as reported by Greek media a few minutes ago, a large quantity of marijuana was found, carefully hidden.

The narcotics are currently being transported to the Port of Igoumenitsa where they will be weighed, while investigations have begun into this case of international drug trafficking from Albania to Greece.
