It is learned that an arrest warrant has also been issued for Asmer Bilal and his cousin, Behar Bajri.

Safet Bajri, otherwise known as the "strong man" of Shkodra, was arrested today by order of SPAK.

Bajri was arrested by RENEA Special Forces in his apartment in Dobraç without any resistance. After being taken to the Shkodra police station, Safet Bajri headed towards Tirana. It is reported that Bajri's arrest is related to the murder of Fatbardh Lici in 2018.

Safet Bajri in Belgium

Safet Bajri is not a common name, despite the fact that he was not a figure in the Albanian media until he managed to create trouble for the Belgian immigration minister, Theo Francken.

Although Bajri was considered one of the most dangerous people in Belgium, sentenced to 20 years in prison for robbery, drug trafficking, exploitation of prostitution, etc., he was captured and deported to Albania as part of the security measure given after Operation "Oasis".

At the time, Belgian media accused the minister of being "obsessed with the deportations of foreigners," reminding him that Safet Bajri is free in Albania and continues to lead his organization from Velipoja.

Safet Bajri was sentenced on January 25, 2017, by the Brussels Court of Appeal to 9 years in prison, as the head of a criminal organization of drug trafficking and prostitution in the Belgian capital.

This organization is also responsible for destruction of property, use of firearms, attempted murder, extortion and trafficking in human beings for the purpose of prostitution. Bajri was also convicted on February 22, 2014.

The Brussels Criminal Court sentenced him to 9 years in prison as the head of a criminal organization for drug trafficking and another 5 years for drug possession and trafficking, illegal deprivation of liberty and death threats.

In 2018, in an operation conducted in the city of Shkodra, the state police arrested 4 people, acquaintances and relatives of Safet Bajri, more specifically; Ilir Rustemi (Bajri), Emrah Plaku, Astmer Bilali and Erogen Brajovic.

These people, according to the police, were members of criminal groups active in the city of Shkodra, but also beyond.

Operation "Oasis"

Safet Bajri was arrested in 2018 as part of Operation "Oasis." This operation led to the arrest of 11 strongmen, members of the "Bajri" criminal gang in Shkodra.

The "Bajri" criminal group was accused of prostitution, match-fixing, murder, extortion, drug trafficking and money laundering.

The Belgian court had sentenced him to 9 years in prison. Bajri served 3 years in Brussels and the rest in cell 302 in the Reç prison.

Bajri's extradition to Belgium was not possible because the two countries did not have an agreement on the matter.

However, the two countries recognize sentences handed down in each other's countries, and for this reason Bajri served his sentence in Albania.

In case the GJKKO proves that Safet Bajri participated in the murder of Fatbardh Lici and in other events that have shocked Shkodra.

This will be the end of the "kingdom" of the Bajri clan in the Northern capital, rumored for its ties to politics, business, and crime.
