Fire in the Fier Tree

Footage shot by the Armed Forces' Cougar helicopter reveals the large size of the fire in Peshtan, Fier.

More than 25 acres of forest, shrubs, pine trees and olives have been burned so far.

"Air Force and Cougar helicopter responded immediately to the request of the Fier local authorities to assist with air-based intervention to bring the flames to Peshtan. "We are also working from the ground to contain the spread of fires favored by wind and high temperatures," said Defence Minister Niko Peleshi.

Firefighters have been battling the blaze in the area for three days, while a 28-year-old man has been handcuffed as the author of arson to open up pastures.
