Albania is attracting foreigners. Intentions to replace labor from other countries seem to be paying off. According to data from the Employment and Skills Agency, last year more than 5,000 foreign nationals were issued with work permits, a significantly higher figure than in previous years.

Italians, citizens from Kosovo, Great Britain and Romania are also those who are showing more interest in being employed in the country.

Angelo, a young Italian is one of them, who says: "It's been some time since I came here to Albania, Tirana. I am today at the labor offices to obtain the necessary permit. I am trained in the field of web development. There is a bit of bureaucracy here, but there are ways to solve it."

His plans to live and work in Albania are long-term.

"We are 5 Italian citizens in the newly established enterprise in the field of information technology. As a start-up, I think we have done well. We plan to expand it in the future.” Angelo tells "A2".

According to experts, the increase in interest from foreigners to be employed in the country is related to the situation the economy is going through. Immigration is also another reason.

The majority of foreigners with permits according to data from the Employment and Skills Agency are found to be employed in construction, followed by the trade and education sectors.
