An elderly woman in Delvina, where the fire situation is still critical, has asked for help from the state. With tears in her eyes, she says she has been left homeless. Despite her advanced age, she tried to put out the flames, but was unable to.
"All forces were here. The house and the barn burned down. I can't say they weren't there. We can't do it with a water hose. Where are the planes that came today, why did they leave? Did you put out the fire? Did you come to help, help me. My heart aches, we know how we live," the resident said.
The situation is no better in Gramsh. Even there, the residents of the burned villages have been evacuated and are telling the media about the hours of horror they spent facing the flames and fire. Some of them have not been able to save even a living thing. So, those left in the open are asking for help from state authorities.
"I am from the village of Skënderbegas, 6 huts were burned down, one of them is a sheep hut where I had 10 heads, I had a cow with a calf waiting to give birth, two pack donkeys, all of which were burned down. The apartment did not burn down, but a tree fell on the foundation and there is a risk of fire there too. Today we are asking for help from the state, to help us. We are two sick old people. My blood pressure was 20 today. I was pulling my husband, my husband, I was telling him, let's go, let's not stay here anymore because the fire is coming," said an elderly woman.
Another woman, a mother with children, is in the same predicament. She says she has been left homeless and the only solution for her now is to seek state assistance.
"We experienced it very badly. The state should help us because we rented our house and I don't know if it burned down or not. At that moment I thought about the lives of the children and the family and that the house and be repaired. The fire broke out in an instant. The forest was full of pine trees and caught fire directly. Then the wind carried the flames to several sides. The authorities intervened late. A lot of water was needed because the fire was in places," said a resident of one of the burned villages in Gramsh.
Even in Nartë, the situation is becoming just as critical! Residents are abandoning their homes, which could be engulfed by the rapidly spreading flames at any moment. With tears in their eyes, desperate and gripped by panic, these families are also trying to save the only asset they have: their living things.
"I left all my belongings there. We didn't save anything. Wherever I go, I'll burn inside. I left all my belongings there, as I worked for 70 years, as long as I wanted my life," said a resident.
For days now, the two most active fire centers where the situation appears serious are Delvina and Gramshi. In Delvina, the fire has spread to the outskirts of the city, while 2 helicopters have been activated from the air. Meanwhile, in Gramsh, the situation continues to be alarming.
