A 19-year-old Egyptian citizen was found without signs of life near an abandoned house in the village of Nivicë, in the early morning hours of 04.04.2026, after being notified by emergency medical services in Saranda.

According to the Himara Police, a preliminary examination of the body revealed no signs of violence and it is suspected that the death was due to natural causes, while the body was transported to the IML morgue in Tirana for a forensic autopsy and the materials were referred to the prosecution for further action.

"Specialists from the Crime Investigation Section at the Himara Police Station carried out the first investigative actions, after on 04.04.2026, in the early hours of the morning, the emergency medical services in Saranda announced that citizen HO, 19 years old, resident of Menia, Egypt, was found without signs of life near an abandoned house in the village of Nivicë," the police announced.

Four young Egyptians were found in the village of Nivic, Saranda, where they had been sheltering overnight in an apartment.

According to sources, the 19-year-old victim, who had health problems and suffered from diabetes, was also with them, a fact confirmed by witnesses and medical personnel.

The young men were reportedly tired, exhausted, and malnourished.

Police officers provided them with first aid, food and clothing, and then escorted them to the reception center in Qafë Botë, Saranda.

This is the second case in the last 24 hours when foreign immigrants are discovered dead on Albanian territory.

Two immigrants originally from Africa were found without signs of life on Kamenica Mountain in Korça on Saturday afternoon.

Low temperatures are believed to be the cause of their loss of life.
