At the 145th meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Rwanda, with the participation of deputies from 178 countries, a call was made once again to end the occupation of Ukraine by Russia and passed the resolution condemning "the occupation of Ukraine and the annexation of territories by the Russian Federation, in defense of the territorial integrity of all states".
At the moment when the leading deputy of the delegation of the Russian Federation spoke, the Albanian delegation left the hall together with the deputies of the EU countries.
Regarding this action, there was also a reaction from the DP deputy, Ervin Salianji, who left the hall as part of the Albanian delegation. In a post on social networks, he says:
"Kigali, Rwanda. The 145th meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union with the participation of deputies from 178 countries.
The war in Ukraine dominated the discussions of the Assembly, where the vast majority of delegations condemned the unprovoked Russian aggression against Ukraine!
The Albanian delegation, like the vast majority of world delegations, supported the emergency resolution condemning the aggression against Ukraine. The 145th Assembly of the IPU has called for an end to the occupation of Ukraine by Russia and adopted the resolution entitled: We condemn the occupation of Ukraine and the annexation of territories by the Russian Federation, in defense of the territorial integrity of all states.
The assembly focused the debate on increasing the authority of parliaments in the control of governments, protecting the status of the deputy, promoting young people in politics, strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation to share the best experiences. Important attention was paid to the cases of the prohibition of democratic spaces in the parliaments of autocratic countries! Every country is under monitoring for maintaining the standards of democracy!"
