Prime Minister Edi Rama has spoken about the relations that Albania will have with the new government of Italy, given that it belongs to the right center and will be led by Giorgia Meloni.
Speaking to the Italian media SkyTg24, Rama said that relations are not determined by political lines.
The head of the Albanian government drew attention to the reports that former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, of the center right, had with Fatos Nano.
"It does not depend on the political direction. I think of Berlusconi who is the representative of the right. Berlusconi had a very good relationship with Fatos Nano. There were periods when there were right-wing governments in Italy, while in Albania they were left-wing. We have early historical ties, there are no political divisions. Everything you see in Tirana as a cultural monument was made by Italian architects. There are no recipes for the right and the left", said the Albanian Prime Minister.
Among other things, Rama spoke about Albania's relationship with Russia, after the war in Ukraine. He says that Albania has no special relationship with Russia, since according to Rama, they have done some things that have influenced our country.
"There will be no force that will return us to the past. Democracy is an element that is protected more than any other country. We don't have special relations with Russia because it has done some things that somehow affected us. It has made us the most pro-American country. Because for 50 years we have been bombarded from morning to dinner. Never think that getting close to America is the greatest evil. The US has already turned into Adam's apple. We went from the anti-American country to the most pro-American country in the world. It is the reason why we have no connection and no relationship with Russia.
Because we had it on the Boulevard until 1990. We broke relations with Russia in 1960, when Khrushchev came to power. Enver Hoxha accused him of being a traitor. We used to say that out loud. After 1990 we have had no inclination to get closer to Russia. We are not dealing with Russia in any way. We can live without them. We have no problem imposing any sanctions on them. We have a normal relationship with China. China has a small presence. We had a wedding with China, we were very close. "We now have no other alternative but to enter Europe," said Rama.
