Albania will assume the UN Security Council Presidency in June, a more coordinating post that the 15 member states of this council hold from a rotating month.
At the ceremony for the presidency, Prime Minister Edi Rama and Foreign Minister Olta Xhaka are expected to be in New York.
Albania was first elected last June as a temporary member of the Security Council.
The interim country has been giving Albania a chair in this institution for two years.
10 KS members enjoy the status of the non-permanent member state and are not entitled to vetoes. The five permanent countries are the US, Great Britain, France, Russia and China, which are also entitled to vetoes.
However, in the case of Ukraine, Albania has done its part at the KS, being co-operating with the US.
