Not many hours have passed since Bajram Begaj was voted in parliament as the new president of the Republic of Albania.

Begaj is holding his first formal meeting with former President Alfred Moisiu. 'Panorama' writes that the meeting between them started at 10:00.

Just like Moisiu and Begaj come from military careers, apparently the new president is seeking advice from his predecessor for the new post.

Begaj was voted yesterday in the Assembly with 78 votes in favor, 4 against and 1 abstention. He is the third president of Albania, after former president Alfred Moisiu and the late Bujar Nishani who comes from a military career.

Moisiu was also praised by Prime Minister Edi Rama on Friday in a statement to reporters, at the moment of revealing the name of Bajram Begaj as the candidate proposed by the Socialists for the post of head of state.

Rama stated that Alfred Moisiu showed us what the president of the Republic of Albania should be like. Armed Forces area, was well remembered. And I remember that Alfred Moisiu showed how the president of the Republic of Albania should be ", said Rama.
