The first session at the Constitutional Court where the lawsuits of the Democratic Party regarding the mandate of deputy Olta Xhaçka were examined has been closed.
At the end of the discussions, the court withdrew and came out with the decision that it needs 30 days to decide.
The session started at 10:00. The representative of the Democratic Party, Marsh Logu, has requested that the GJK force the Assembly to take Xhaçka's mandate to court, while the other side objects. The representative of the Assembly claims that the Democratic Party's request did not even meet the necessary formal criteria.
The opposition claims that MP Xhaçka is in an open conflict of interest, because her husband's company, including herself, have benefited from public state assets, during the investment in a tourist facility.
While according to the socialists, this case has nothing to do with a conflict of interest, and they propose in their report that the motions of the opposition should not be forwarded to the Constitutional Court, because the company of the husband of deputy Xhaçka will build with permission on a private plot of land and not has any contract with institutions to benefit from public property.
