Gjokutaj in handcuffs, Tabaku: The arrest of the man who had the keys to the
Jorida Tabaku

Democratic MP Jorida Tabaku has reacted to the arrest of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance, Alban Gjokutaj.

According to her, the arrest of the highest authority in the Republic of Albania for the execution of all state budget payments cannot be treated simply as a statistic.

Tabaku says that someone must take responsibility, even political, for what happens.

"Today, the first authorizing officer - SP of the Ministry of Finance, who is the highest authority in the Republic of Albania for the execution of all state budget payments, was arrested.

This person was responsible for executing the budget, making all payments, following all line ministries and their payments.

In short, this is the man who has the keys to the state in his hand and today he was arrested precisely because he used those keys according to his interest and not according to the law.

I can no longer accept that this is called an achievement, that the arrest of the man who holds the keys to the state is counted as a statistic and his arrest is waved as a trophy every time they meet internationals or every time they go to report to them.

Someone must bear responsibility, even political, for what happens; as there is not just one Secretary General, nor just two ministers, nor just one deputy. We know there are more. Albanians know it.

This established system promotes corruption. This system encourages corruption. This system does not promote the values of a healthy society, meritocracy and the market!

The system we are talking about is that of the officials who today are seen as easy models of success, as they expose hundreds of thousands of euros, inappropriate lifestyles and all this comes as a result of a system built upside down.

To fight it you need a plan and above all political will; a will not denounce and inquisitorial but a will that fights it and above all paves the way for a system of values.

The first step is to turn the War against Corruption into a national priority, since so many arrests are not a coincidence, and it is not even a coincidence why the Albanian leaves.

Without going here, we will continue to throw the ball from one field to another, we will count the soldiers specializing in corruption as statistics under Stalin's motto "One corrupt is a tragedy, many are just statistics". It must be done today!", writes Tabaku on social networks.
