Antony Blinken

In the context of the 110th anniversary of Independence, American Secretary of State Antony Blinken congratulated Albania on Flag Day.

On behalf of the United States of America, I have the honor to congratulate the people of Albania on the 110th anniversary of Independence. The United States is also proud to celebrate 100 years of US-Albania diplomatic relations and the broad and strong partnership we have built together.

The United States has been honored to work alongside Albania on the United Nations Security Council as you continue to make powerful contributions on the global stage. Albania has shown leadership and courage by supporting Ukraine and shining a light on the actions of malicious actors in Europe and around the world. Albania's valuable contributions as a NATO Ally help keep the Alliance strong, prepared and determined. The United States also thanks Albania for its partnership and support in the resettlement of Afghans.

We congratulate Albania on achieving the start of EU membership negotiations in July and remain committed to supporting you on your transatlantic journey. Together, we are working to fight corruption and organized crime, secure energy while advancing our common climate agenda for Europe and strengthen cyber defences.

As we begin the next century of our relations, we are proud to stand side by side with the Albanian people. '- said in the message of the US Secretary of State.
