British Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab resigned on Friday following allegations of sexual harassment against civil servants.

Raab's announcement came a day after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak received the findings of an investigation into eight official complaints that Raab, who is also justice secretary, had abused staff members during a previous term in that office and while serving as secretary of state. Lawyer Adam Tolley, who led the inquiry, said Raab acted in a manner that was "intimidating and persistently aggressive" and included punitive elements in his leadership style.

"His conduct also involved an abuse or misuse of power in a manner that humiliates the individuals affected," Tolley wrote in the 48-page report.

Raab, 49, denied claims he belittled his staff and said he conducted himself professionally at all times, but said he would resign because he had promised to do so if the harassment complaints were proven.
