Elon Musk's Space X Starship explodes minutes after launch (VIDEO)

After liftoff, SpaceX's Starship exploded in midair on its first launch attempt. The most powerful rocket ever built was unmanned.

"Starship just experienced what we call an unplanned rapid disassembly," an official said on the air.

SpaceX's Starship, the most powerful rocket ever built, lifted off from a launch pad off the coast of South Texas on Thursday.

The unmanned rocket exploded in mid-air shortly after liftoff but SpaceX is still celebrating the test.

"With a test like this, success comes from what we learn, and today's test will help us improve the reliability of Starship as SpaceX seeks to make life multiplanetary," SpaceX said in a tweet.

Earlier, the Daily Mail wrote that "Elon Musk's $3 billion Starship - a vehicle that could revolutionize long-distance space travel - will blast off into the stars later after Monday's first launch attempt was postponed due to technical problems".
