The Times: Mercenaries of the Wagner Group admit to having killed 40 Ukrainian

Russian attacks in Ukraine have not stopped, not even saving people's lives. " The Times " writes that two former Russian mercenaries have admitted to killing hundreds of Ukrainian civilians, including dozens of children who were sheltered in a basement in Eastern Ukraine.

Alexey Savichev and Azamat Uldarov told a Russian human rights activist that they had been recruited from Russian prisons to fight in Ukraine for the Wagner Group, the private military company run by Yevgeny Prigozhin.

Uldarov recounted a gruesome incident where he and his fellow mercenaries massacred nearly 300 to 400 people, including about 40 children, who had taken refuge in the basement of a nine-story apartment block in Bakhmut, a city in the Donbass region, which has seen some of the heaviest fighting of the war.

One of the victims he told was a little girl; " She was screaming, she was a small child, I shot her. They did not allow me to release either , "he told the head of the Gulagu rights.

According to the documents published by Gulagu.net, the two interviewees, Savichev and Uldarov, have returned to Russia.

Uldarov claimed that the final order to kill everyone in the basement of the palace in Bakhmut came from Prigozhin, a convicted criminal who has risen to a position of massive influence under President Putin.

" This hand killed children," said Uldarov, "I was following orders to destroy them all ." He also said he and other Wagner fighters had killed at least 60 wounded Ukrainian prisoners of war and Russian mercenaries who had tried to defect.

Almost 500 children have been killed in Ukraine since the Russian occupation began last year, officials in Kiev said yesterday. The figure does not include children who were killed in the occupied regions./ The Times
