"He attacked me, he was aggressive", nurse Aurona Pelaj tries to defend herself, according to her statement to the police.

The footage of the elderly woman being beaten at the "Orenda" elderly care center in Peja has shocked the country. The two nurses, Aurona Pelaj and Altina Rexhepi, allegedly attacked the elderly woman brutally, while Remize Kuqi recorded the footage.

They ended up in the handcuffs of the Police and were suspended, together with another worker. Gazeta Sinjali has provided details from the testimony of the main suspect, Aurora Pelajt, who has expressed remorse, arguing that she attacked the victim in self-defense. She considers the publication of the video to be intentional, because she left her job at this center yesterday.

The sources of the newspaper have informed that Pelaj has declared before the police investigators that on the critical day she went to help her colleagues who were dealing with the elderly woman (the victim of the case), as according to her she was aggressive.

She has justified the violence she has exerted against her by saying that "she attacked me first", as she said that the victim had a nervous breakdown that day and caused "trouble" in the premises of the center.

"When I started working, she was already a resident of the house and the doctor confirmed that she has mental disorders. On the day when the case happened, she was very aggressive and from time to time experienced nervous crises, and we informed the doctor about this. That day, we had the task of changing their diapers after the elderly woman (the victim) had performed her physiological need and soiled the space with her hands. I heard a noise in the bathroom and went to look. My colleagues had problems there and I wanted to help you. She (the elderly victim) attacked me and caused injuries to my hand, she attacked me with a kick. I did not use violence or great force except to stop her attacking me. She also attacked another resident that day" , she stated.

Sinjali learns that Pelaj has also stated that the force she used was under the influence, but in a way she considered her actions to be right, with the reasoning that she must have dominated people with mental problems.

"At school we were taught that people who pose a risk to the staff and have mental problems should be dominant towards them. I am aware that the action was excessive and under the influence, but she attacked me first and my actions were warning and not with great force. My colleagues have tried to get her (the old lady) under control. They have tried hard to change it, it has been powerful and some people want to bring it under control."

Në dëshminë e saj, Pelaj është shprehur e penduar thellësisht dhe keq emocionalisht për rastin që ka ndodhur. Ajo ka deklaruar po ashtu se publikimi i videos është bërë me qëllim nga qendra pasi ajo e ka lënë punën gjatë ditës së djeshme. Sipas saj, ajo s’ka qenë e përgatitur që të merret me persona që kanë probleme psikike.

Burimet thonë se Pelaj ka punuar në këtë qendër për rreth katër muaj, pa kontratë dhe është paguar me para kesh.

Kujtojmë se një familjar i të moshuarës, tha para gazetarëve se rasti i cili u bë publik sot, ka ndodhur “para 3-4 ditësh”. Ai tha se e moshuara vuan nga sëmundja e alzheimerit dhe nuk ka mundur t’i tregojë asgjë për rastin vajzës së saj, për të cilën tha se e kishte vizuar nënën “disa herë në javë”.
