Viral video: US Treasury Secretary interrupts interview after being called by

A video of US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent being called out by President Donald Trump in the middle of an interview, and then returning with his voice shaking, is making the rounds online.

The clip, posted on X, shows Bessent sitting down with journalist Wilfred Frost from Sky News for a normal interview, however, as soon as Frost opens his mouth to ask a question, a woman off-camera interrupts. “I’m sorry to interrupt, but the president wants you,” she says, drawing shocked looks from both Bessent and the journalist.

“The president wants you right away,” she continues. Team members immediately intervened and took the microphone away from Bessent, who apologized to the reporter before the woman said the secretary would only be gone for 10 minutes. “No problem,” Frost replies.

“See you soon, Mr. Secretary,” he adds as Bessent jokes that he might insert the excerpt into the full interview. A video of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent being called out by President Donald Trump in the middle of an interview, then returning with a shaky voice, went viral overnight.

From the video, it is understood that Bessent left the interview at 10:22 a.m. and returned at 12:07 p.m.

“Mr. Secretary, I have to say that this is the first time, and I’m sure the last, that an interviewee has withdrawn to go to the Situation Room,” Frost declared after the interview resumed. “How is the president? Was he stressed?” he asked Bessent.

"No, the president is in excellent spirits. The Iranian mission is going ahead and is going better than expected," Bessent said. "And I have to tell you, Wilf, I have a teenage son who is considering military service," he added.

"I can give this team my highest compliment from President Trump to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to the Secretary of War. I would trust my child's life in their hands," Bessent said, his tone of voice clearly changing.

Some social media users speculated that the secretary pulled out of the interview because of something in Iran, however, Bessent did not elaborate on the reason. The Mirror US newspaper reached out to the White House and the Treasury Department for comment.
