Just two days after the shocking collision of a passenger plane with a military helicopter in Washington that claimed the lives of 67 people, another tragedy has shaken the US.
A small medical transport plane crashed into several buildings in a Philadelphia neighborhood, burning homes and vehicles and injuring people on the ground, but no one on board survived.
On board the plane were the two pilots, a doctor and a paramedic, the patient - a 6-year-old girl, and her mother.
The plane belonged to Rescue Air Ambulance, an airline specializing in medical transport.
The child was receiving treatment in the US for a life-threatening condition and was returning to Tijuana, Mexico, Shai Gold, a spokesman for the airline, told local media.
Her treatment was sponsored by a charity.
"The girl fought hard to survive, and unfortunately, this tragedy happened on the way home," he said.
The Mexican Consulate in Philadelphia issued a notice on Platform X for Mexican citizens affected by the incident to call a helpline.
Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker urged residents not to touch debris if they see it, but to call 911 immediately.
The ambulance plane crashed just 30 seconds after taking off.
The accident occurred less than 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) from the Northeast Philadelphia airport, which serves mainly business jets and charter flights.
The Learjet 55 aircraft disappeared from radar shortly after taking off from the airport at 18:06 and after reaching an altitude of 487 meters.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said he has committed all of the state's "resources to respond to the serious incident in Philadelphia."
