US President Donald Trump has made a series of statements regarding the war with Iran, saying the conflict is "almost over" but stressing that the US will not stop until "the enemy is completely defeated."
Trump also stated that he is considering the possibility of taking control of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important oil shipping routes.
According to reports in The Wall Street Journal, the US president may also support the elimination of Mojtaba Khamenei if he does not abandon Iran's nuclear program. Mojtaba is considered a possible successor to the Iranian supreme leader.
Meanwhile, the US Department of Defense published a harsh message on social media regarding the conflict with Iran, using the phrase "merciless."
Tensions have also been reflected in the region. Turkey's Foreign Ministry has asked the Iranian ambassador in Ankara for an explanation over a reported ballistic missile.
On the other hand, French President Emmanuel Macron warned that the war could last for many weeks, emphasizing that regimes do not change with bombing alone.
Trump added that he is currently not close to making a decision on deploying US troops in Iran, while also expressing dissatisfaction with the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as a possible successor to his father.
Meanwhile, the Revolutionary Guard stressed on Monday evening that they "will decide on the end of the war," responding to US President Donald Trump's statement that the armed conflict will "end soon."
"We are the ones who will decide the end of the war," a Revolutionary Guard spokesman said, according to a statement carried by Iranian media. "The equation and the future status of the region are now in the hands of our armed forces. It is not the American (armed) forces that will end the war," he added.
