The Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority announced saturday that the country's airspace will be temporarily closed to all aircraft inbound, takeoff and transit, the state-owned Petra news agency reported, as neighboring Israel remains on high alert for an Iranian attack.
"The authority has made a decision to temporarily close Jordanian airspace to all aircraft arriving, departing and passing, starting at 11pm local time for the next few hours, and this will be updated and reviewed continuously as developments take place," Petra said.
In a statement, the authority cited the imperative to protect civil aviation security within Jordanian airspace.
The closure follows a full assessment of risks in line with international standards, the statement said.
