A police officer in Sydney is being considered a heroine on social media after footage shows him alone in neutralising the attacker in a shopping mall.

The blonde policewoman was filmed chasing the perpetrator on the top floor of the shopping centre. At one point, he stopped and pointed at her the knife, seriously threatening her. The policeman did not hesitate and shot him by destroying him.

The whole scene occurred amid panic engulfing the citizens as the perpetrator managed to kill five people and injure eight others, among them a 9-month-old child.

The policewoman was later seen exercising cardiopulmonary resuscitation for one of the victims lying on the ground.

Authorities said the attack 'is not terrorist', but nothing is yet known about the perpetrator's profile and motive behind the macabre crime.
