Russian attacks in Kharkiv

British military intelligence says Russia lost more than 70,000 troops in the past two months in its attempt to capture the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv.

The daily average of Russian casualties (killed and injured) in Ukraine, throughout May and June 2024 rose to maximum conflict levels of 1,262 and 1,163 respectively, the British Ministry of Defense said on Friday.

On the front lines of the war, Russian officials claimed to have occupied Ukraine's eastern village of Urozhaine in Donetsk, though there was no immediate confirmation from Kiev.

The British Ministry of Defence's statement comes at a time when Russia has already launched joint naval exercises in southern China. China also conducted a joint military exercise with Belarus on the borders of Poland, a NATO member state.
