Killed in trump rally, victim protected wife and daughters
Gunfire at Trump rally

Family members identified Corey Comperatore as the participant who was killed in the assassination of former President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Comperatore was a former fire chiefs for Buffalo Township, local news station WPXI reported. He was shot and killed when Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire on Trump from about 130 yards away from the rally. Two other people were seriously injured in the attack, authorities said.

The victim's sister, Dawn Comperatore Schafer, wrote in a Facebook post that Corey "was a hero who protected his daughters."

"His wife and daughters simply lived the unthinkable and unimaginable. My little brother just turned 50 and had a lot of life left to experience. Hatred has no limits and love has no limits. Pray for us because this feels like a terrible nightmare, but we know it is our painful reality," Schafer wrote.
