In the press release it is stated that depending on the temperatures prevailing during the months of July and August 2024, other measures will be taken
Based on the recommendations of the National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo, due to the significant increase in temperatures in the following days, in order to protect the health of the citizens, the Ministry of Health makes a decision to limit the working hours from 13.07. 2024 until 20.07.2024 for the following categories: pregnant women, who will work from home.
It is forbidden to work in the construction sector in open spaces during the hours 11:00 - 17:00 throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
The government also banned the circulation of heavy vehicles due to high temperatures. But the Business Club has expressed its "strong opposition" to the Government's latest decision to ban the circulation of vehicles weighing over 7.5 tons from July 14 to July 31, 2024. According to him, this decision will affect the interruption of chains of supply, increase operating costs and will negatively affect the economy because this decision affects manufacturers, retailers and ultimately consumers. Currently, when there is "a large flow of demand for supplies in the market due to the visit of compatriots from the diaspora", the Business Club says that "such a decision becomes even more senseless". They call on the government to review this decision, engage in dialogue with interested parties and implement alternative measures that do not hinder economic activity. The government decided to ban the circulation of goods transport vehicles weighing over 7.5 tons "on highways, national and regional roads" due to "protecting roads from damage as a result of high temperatures".
