Conflict escalates, India attacks Pakistan with missiles
Indian soldiers on the border with Pakistan

Pakistan announced a few minutes ago that it had been hit by a missile attack from India.

Pakistani security officials said India fired missiles across the border at three locations.

The Indian defense ministry said it had targeted "terrorist infrastructure" in Pakistan, in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, "from where terrorist attacks against India are planned and directed."

A Pakistani military spokesman said the country would respond to the attacks.

Relations between India and Pakistan have deteriorated significantly following a deadly militant attack on tourists in Kashmir last month.

India accuses Pakistan of supporting cross-border terrorism - a charge that Islamabad categorically denies.
