On the eve of the meeting with Kurti in Berlin, Vuçiç: I am afraid

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vuçi., Said that he was "scared" before the trip to Berlin, where he is expected to meet with the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz.

Speaking during a visit to Greece, Vucic said he was "afraid" of talks with Scholz and did not expect them to be "easy".

Scholz invited Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti to separate talks on May 4th.

They will be joined by the European Union Special Representative in the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Miroslav Lajcak.

Lajcak is expected to hold a joint meeting with Kurti and Vucic.

If realized, this will be the first Kurti-Vucic meeting since July last year, when the parties met in Brussels, as part of the dialogue for the normalization of relations.

The German government has recently said that Kosovo and Serbia need to make progress in the dialogue process.

The two countries have been engaged in this dialogue since 2011 and have reached dozens of agreements.

However, many of them have not found application on the ground.

During his stay in Greece, Vuçi. Was also asked about the sanctions against Russia, due to the occupation of Ukraine, but did not say what position Serbia would take on this issue.

Serbia is currently the only country in the Western Balkans that has not joined Western sanctions against Russia.

On April 21, Vucic said that, despite pressure, Serbia would not jeopardize its national interests by sanctioning Russia.

The EU and the US have repeatedly asked Serbia to harmonize its policies with the European bloc - where it intends to join - and to sanction Russia./REL
