An Israeli airstrike killed the three sons of the leader of the Palestinian militia Hamas, Ismail Haniya, as reported by the latter and confirmed by the Israeli military.

Speaking to Al Jazeera from Qatar, where he lives, Haniya said some of his grandchildren had also died in the attack.

But the moment when Janiya got the news was recorded by the cameras, as he was having an official meeting.

The Hazem brothers, Amir and Mohamed Haniya, were killed in a bombing in the Al-Shati refugee camp in Gaza, where Israel is conducting a large-scale military operation in response to Hamas attacks, on October 7.

The Israeli military claimed that the three brothers were "Hamas military operatives" and confirmed that it had "eliminated" them.
