"Greater Serbia: the troublemaker of the Balkans". This is the title of the secret document compiled by American intelligence agents during the 90s, which clearly details the intentions of the Milosevic regime to carry out ethnic cleansing in our region, mainly in Kosovo and Bosnia, but also in Croatia, reports A2CNN.

Among the advice given by the CIA, how to act to stop what was considered a great and continuous evil for the Balkans and Europe, it is said:

"Belgrade will not stop providing active support for the creation of a large, ethnically pure Serbia by force until the international community strengthens strict trade sanctions, arms Bosnia and Croatia, conducts airstrikes against military targets Serbs in Bosnia, as well as enforce a no-fly zone in the former Yugoslav Republic of and threaten attacks on military areas in Serbia."

The CIA estimated at that time that "Greater Serbia" would create unrest and destruction among its neighbors, starting with ethnic cleansing in Kosovo and purchasing weapons of mass destruction such as chemical ones.

American intelligence points out in its reports that Kosovo in the 90s had a population of over 90 percent Albanians, while only one area in the north had a Serbian population.

The CIA reflected a panorama that resembles the current reality, where even in the 90s, the West used the carrot and stick method to calm Belgrade, but the result was the bombing of Serbia to avoid an even bigger war.

Among the scenarios being considered, there is also that of a direct clash between Albania and Serbia.

"Albania's armed forces have about 65,000 troops and the plans of the Ministry of Defense determine the possibility of mobilizing over 400,000 men in a crisis."

But it is estimated that the Albanian army would have a hard time facing the Serbian forces with sophisticated weapons. In this scenario, an involvement of Turkey in support of Albania and Kosovo was foreseen, while Greece, on the other hand, would be against it.

In another secret document from 1993, the CIA supports the position of former President Bush, that in the event of a conflict caused by the actions of Serbia, the United States will be prepared to engage military power against the Serbs in Kosovo and even in Serbia.
