Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov responded to war crimes charges in Ukraine by restoring the Serbian narrative of the Reçak massacre in Kosovo.
Lavrov called it the January 15, 1999 massacre of 45 Kosovo Albanian civilians, among them elderly, women and children.
Lavrov's statements were answered by US Ambassador to Pristina Jeffrey Hovenier.
"Those who deny atrocities in Recak seek to hinder progress towards regional reconciliation, democratic consolidation and European and Euroatlantic integration," Hovenier has written.
In the same writing, the US Ambassador declares that the Reçak Massacre is well documented with matches, testimonies and images of the inhumane crimes of Serbian forces in Kosovo.
(1/2) Attempts to rewrite & deny the well-documented history of the Recak massacre glorifies war crimes, dishonors the memory of the dead, and reopens the wounds of survivors. https://t.co/yv30XTSivW
