Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has made no secret of optimism as he says that Kosovo ranks better than any other Western Balkan country for democratic progress.
The V-Dem Institute ranking places Kosovo 62nd and leaves behind Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
Kurti says the report shows that Kosovo is one of the few democracies that has made progress globally for 2024.
Our democratic progress continues to be recognized internationally! The 2024 report by swedish-based company V-Dem Institute has placed Kosovo in an improved position and highlighted it as one of the few democracies that has seen improvement globally. At 62, Kosovo ranks higher than all western Balkan countries.
